Newcastle United hand professional deal to exciting teenager as Steve Bruce looks to the future

Newcastle United have agreed a professional deal with exciting teenager Joe White.

The Magpies have wasted no time in handing him a long-term contract with the midfielder putting pen to paper on his 17th birthday.

The youngster has impressed this season and has trained with Steve Bruce's first team after breaking through from the Academy.

White was originally signed from Carlisle United as a kid, but now gets the chance to push for the senior ranks at a Premier League club.

The teenager netted the winner for the Under-18s against Sunderland last weekend and has been a regular in the club's Under-23s this term.

Bruce has made his feelings clear on giving youngsters their chance at first team level.

He told the Chronicle: "It's something I enjoyed watching.

"We have been very fortunate with the two Longstaff brothers.

"They have broke through.

"Is there room for another one or two, I sincerely hope so.

"We'll try to improve that area and it's always good to see the young ones."
