Newcastle United great Alan Shearer offers brilliant reaction to Harry Kane achievement

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer reacted in brilliant fashion as he was reminded of how long it took him to reach 150 Premier League goals.

Harry Kane scored his 150th top-flight goal in Tottenham's late 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon. The Spurs and England striker is one of just 10 players to reach the 150-goal landmark in the Premier League, alongside some legendary names.

Kane (150) is joint with Michael Owen, but behind Jermain Defoe (162), Robbie Fowler (163), Thierry Henry (175), Frank Lampard (177), Sergio Aguero (180), Andy Cole (187), Wayne Rooney (208) and Shearer (260).

In the past, Kane has insisted he is determined to break Shearer's all-time scoring record, and is now 110 goals behind the target.

Whilst on BBC Match of the Day, the former Newcastle striker and manager was asked by Ian Wright about how many games it had taken him to score 150 goals in the Premier League.

"Why do you have to bring me into it?" Shearer said with a smile on his face.

Presenter Mark Chapman then chipped in with the stat - 150 goals in 212 games - which is six fewer matches than it took Kane to reach the landmark.

The now-football pundit netted the majority of his top-flight goals whilst playing at St. James' Park, scoring 148 times in 303 matches for the Magpies. Shearer was also ruthless in front of goal at Blackburn Rovers - where he found the back of the net 112 times in 138 games.

His best season, in terms of goals scored, came at Ewood Park as well - scoring 34 times in the 1994/95 season. Whilst at Newcastle, his best campaign at the club was actually in his debut season, where Shearer scored 25 goals in 31 Premier League games.

Shearer's form in the mid-90s was incredible and he won three successive Golden Boots for his efforts in the 1994/95, 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons.
