Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman joins Swansea City in loan deal and signs contract extension

Freddie Woodman has signed a season long loan deal with Swansea City.

The England Under-21 international had been frozen out at United but will now get the game-time he has been desperate for in the last 12

months.

The goalkeeper has also extended his current deal at Newcastle by an additional year and is now contracted at the club until 2021.

Chronicle Live reported on Monday that Woodman had been approached by two Championship clubs, and it's Swansea who have won the battle to sign - completing a deal late last night.

Woodman travelled from Tyneside yesterday and agreed the deal to play under new Swans boss Steve Cooper.

Woodman said last month: "I just want to keep getting games and minutes andlearn as much as I can."

This is Woodman' fifth loan deal in his time at Newcastle United, having joined up with Hartlepool, Crawley Town, Kilmarnock and Abderdeen.
