Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron's miserable start to the new season continued as he was sent off for the second time in his international career.
The 25-year-old was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card for simulation in Paraguay's friendly against Serbia on Thursday night.
Neither side could break the deadlock before the interval, and Almiron received his first yellow card just before half-time.
The former Atlanta United attacker did not last much longer after the restart, receiving his second booking in the 54th minute.
beINSPORTSUSA journalist Roberto Rojas tweeted the second yellow card was given for "diving".
Former Magpie Aleksandar Mitrovic struck in the 90th minute to give Serbia a 1-0 victory.
It is the second time Almiron has been sent off while representing Paraguay, the first dismissal coming back in March for dangerous challenge against Mexico.
The attacker is yet to find the net for the Magpies since his then record transfer in January, but Atlanta United president Darren Eales remains convinced the 25-year-old will regain his goalscoring touch.
Speaking at the Leaders in Sport Summit , Eales said: “You see his glimpses of his ability. He showed it in the summer with Paraguay at the Copa America.

“His pace with the ball is incredible. I always likened it to Gareth Bale from my time at Spurs – he always seems quicker when he has got the ball than without the ball. It is about confidence.
“I just hope he can get that first goal and then they will come in waves.”
