Newcastle United flop Henri Saivet waiting for the 'right opportunity' after Magpies release

Former Newcastle United midfielder Henri Saivet has revealed he's waiting for "an interesting" project to kick start his career.

The 30-year-old Senegalese midfielder was released by the Magpies this summer after making just eight appearances, scoring just once in a five year tenure on Tyneside.

Newcastle paid just over £5million to sign the midfielder from Girondins de Bordeaux, but the move proved to be a disappointing one.

Saivet would spend time on loan at Saint-Etienne, Sivasspor and Bursaspor but none of those moves would reignite his career.

Now, having moved back to France, Saivet is still on the lookout for a new club.

He told Girondins33 : “I was at the end of my contract with Newcastle. I came back in the Bordeaux region. I’m looking for a club right now.

"I’m waiting to find a nice opportunity, an interesting project, to continue my career.

“I’m ready. I’m training all the time to stay as ready as possible and so that, when an opportunity comes, play again and take pleasure in it”.
