Newcastle United fielding loan approaches for Jacob Murphy as Steve Bruce makes final decision on 25-man squad

Newcastle United are listening to season long loan offers for Jacob Murphy with the 24-year-old unlikely to make the cut in Steve Bruce's Premier League 25-man squad for the first half of the season.

Bruce's old club Sheffield Wednesday have already opened discussions but the former Norwich City wide man has a clutch of other EFL sides paying attention to him ahead of deadline day.

Murphy is attracting interest from Huddersfield Town and Derby County, with Newcastle well stocked with wingers after the arrival of Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems.

Head coach Steve Bruce said: "I've got to name a 25-man squad by the end of this week with three goalkeepers.

"So I've got to disappoint some players which is the awful side of the job.

"All of them to a tee have really had a go but I can only pick 22."

Murphy has figured in five games in pre-season but did not do enough to impress Steve Bruce to win a place in his squad.
