Newcastle United fans think they have spotted another takeover hint from Nick De Marco

Newcastle United supporters believe they have once again spotted a takeover hint in Nick De Marco’s latest tweet.

The QC, who was tasked with representing Mike Ashley during the high-profile dispute with the Premier League over the failed attempt to sell Newcastle in the summer, posted another picture of his hobby.

De Marco, who first sent Newcastle fans into a frenzy with his homebaked bread in October, has returned to his favourite tweet format.

Lee Ryder's verdict from Newcastle's defeat to Chelsea

This time the sports lawyer posted pictures of his first attempt at baking a stottie, a flat round loaf of bread which has its origins in the north east.

Having previously teased takeover progress by including Newcastle brown ale in the background of his wholesome snaps, De Marco went less cryptic this time with a Tyneside classic.

And given the Tweet arrived on the back of Newcastle's confirmation of legal action against the Premier League - and the Newcastle Supporters Consortium tweeting the lawyer congratulations to a two-month old tweet - many fans are convinced he is dropping further hints of behind-the-scenes progress.

Here is how Magpies fans reacted to the tweet.

De Marco is representing Ashley in a dispute with the Premier League over their decision to reject Saudi Arabia's takeover bid of the Magpies.

The QC from Blackstone Chambers has made a name for himself amongst Newcastle fans, who are desperate for a takeover from Ashley to go through.

He regularly tweets pictures of his culinary efforts, but it is his breadmaking in particular which has most peaked the interests of Magpies fans.

As well as representing Ashley, De Marco has recently won a case on behalf of Derby County in their battle against the EFL over their sale of Pride Park stadium and acted for Sheffield Wednesday in arbitral and disciplinary proceedings between over its sale of Hillsborough.
