Newcastle United fans think they have spotted a takeover hint from Nick De Marco

Newcastle United fans believe they have spotted a takeover hint in Nick De Marco's latest tweet.

The QC, who was tasked with representing Mike Ashley during the high-profile dispute with the Premier League over the failed attempt to sell Newcastle in the summer, posted a picture of some homebaked bread.

At first glance, it was a rather wholesome picture of De Marco's hobby - yet plenty of Magpies fans spotted hints it could be some hidden messaging.

For example, there was Newcastle Brown Ale in the background with a bottle of champagne black de noir - or black and white.

Here is how Magpies fans reacted to the tweet.

De Marco is representing Ashley in a dispute with the Premier League over their decision to reject Saudi Arabia's takeover bid of the Magpies.

Fans argued that the way De Marco's bread was carved - with a large loaf and two smaller slices - was representative of the 80% of Newcastle that was going to be owned by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and the 10 per cent that would be owned by PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben Brothers respectively.

De Marco has a healthy sporting record to his name, having recently won a case on behalf of Derby County in their battle against the EFL over their sale of Pride Park stadium.

Other achievements include successfully acting on behalf of Stevenage after the club was accused of not acting in the right way toward the EFL over a postponed game.

He also successfully defended Crystal Palace's Wayne Hennesey after the goalkeeper was accused of making an alleged Nazi salute at a dinner with other players.

He was described as 'one of only two barristers in England with a practice exclusively in sports-related disputes'.
