Newcastle United fans thank Nick De Marco for his message of support against Crystal Palace

Newcastle United fans have reacted after Nick De Marco tweeted in support of the Magpies in their Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

De Marco is the QC who was tasked with representing Mike Ashley during the high-profile dispute with the Premier League over the failed attempt to sell Newcastle in the summer.

His Twitter account has been the source of much excitement for Newcastle supporters in recent months, with his tweets ranging from the playful to the mysterious.

De Marco has played along, posting apparent references to the Newcastle takeover attempt in the past, while also keeping supporters updated with every aspect of his work life.

Magpies fans were annoyed by the revelations surrounding American management firm ALK Capital’s £170million takeover of Burnley in December, but have enjoyed the latest tweet from De Marco.

He tweeted: “Newcastle and Palace are both good clients so this is a difficult one for me but, given the points at stake etc it has to be good luck #NUFC for 3 points or second best both teams share the points.”

“Nick De Marco's black n white army,” one fan wrote underneath the post.

Another added: “You are becoming a legend Nick, starting to get a man crush.”

“Thankyou and very much appreciated from the Toon Army,” said another.

Newcastle host Palace in the 20.15 kick-off at St James’ Park tonight, with the Magpies hoping to build on their 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

Callum Wilson’s brace saw Steve Bruce’s side end an 11-game winless streak at Goodison Park to ease pressure on their boss.

Bruce has made one change for the visit of Palace, bringing in Ciaran Clark for Jamaal Lascalles, with Ryan Fraser passing a fitness test to start on the wing.
