Newcastle United fans spot Sven Botman transfer 'hint' after Kieran Trippier update

Newcastle United fans believe they have spotted a transfer clue on social media in the club's pursuit of Sven Botman.

The Netherlands under-21 international is said to have been identified as a January target as Eddie Howe looks to improve the Magpies' leaky defence.

Lille have reportedly turned down an initial approach from the Magpies, with the latest reports suggesting AC Milan have 'opted' against a potential deal for the centre-back.

Kieran Trippier is set to become the first signing for Newcastle's new owners, with a medical and an agreement on personal terms expected on Wednesday.

The early deal for the Atletico Madrid full-back and England international is seen as the first of several anticipated arrivals at St James' Park.

Trippier had previously got Newcastle fans talking with a 'like' on an Instagram post detailing Sean Longstaff's recent defence of Joelinton, and it seems Botman has repeated the trick.

Football site The 433 shared a post on Tuesday evening, outlining an agreement had been reached between the Magpies and Atletico.

More than one million followers 'liked' the post, and the most notable of these for United fans was Botman's official account.

The 21-year-old is contracted to the Ligue 1 champions until the summer of 2025, and is listed with a transfer value of £27m on the website Transfermarkt.
