Newcastle United fans send message to the board as Joe Willock transfer edges closer

The January transfer window is on the verge of closing and for Newcastle United, time is running out for any last minute dealings.

The Magpies are yet to bring anyone in during the mid-season window, but the club are looking to complete at least one signing before the 11pm deadline.

DeAndre Yedlin has now completed a permanent move to Galatasaray, which frees up a place in the squad, meaning they can now move forward with incoming deals.

Steve Bruce's attempts to bring Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury could go right down to the wire, with the club trying to reach a deal with the Foxes for the 23-year-old.

However, recent speculation suggests that Leicester will repel loan requests for the central midfielder.

Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing Watford star Nathaniel Chalobah to the club if Choudhury was to leave, but in somewhat of a vicious circle, the Hornets need a replacement for their midfielder if he was to leave Vicarage Road.

Joe Willock of Arsenal is another central midfield target for Newcastle, but he will not take up a senior squad spot as he is categorised as an Under-21 player.

The Magpies are hopeful of completing a loan move for Willock - who has barely featured for the Gunners so far this season.

With just hours of the deadline day to go, Newcastle supporters are all saying the same thing and fear that it could be another frustrating day for the club.

Newcastle were interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal as well, but it appears the England international is close to completing a move to West Bromwich Albion.

Bruce 's side picked up their first win in 11 games on Saturday afternoon as they shocked Everton at Goodison Park and beat them 2-0 thanks to a Callum Wilson brace.

If Newcastle were to complete the signings of Choudhury and Willock, then they will not be available for Tuesday evening's home clash with Crystal Palace - as they missed the deadline earlier today.
