Newcastle United fans relieved as Callum Wilson suggests he's fit for West Brom game

Newcastle United fans have been breathing a little easier after Callum Wilson suggested he was ready to face West Brom this Saturday.

With the club dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19 at the training ground which forced the away game to Aston Villa to be cancelled, the players returned to their Benton base today for the first time in 13 days.

The likelihood is that the Magpies will be missing several first-team members although the club have yet to confirmed who caught the virus, and who remains in self-isolation.

Fans though spotted that Wilson, the club's top goalscorer this season with seven goals so far, had taken to Instragram to give some hope that their star man might be okay for Saturday's game.

Posting alongside a picture of him in training, United's no. 13 wrote: "Good to be back training with the lads today."

Wilson netted and set-up Joelinton for the club's second goal in their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace two weeks ago.

Steve Bruce will hold his press conference on Friday where we should find out more about the severity of the outbreak and the lasting impact of it.
