Newcastle United fans have reacted to the latest developments in the transfer race to sign Joe Willock from Arsenal.
The Magpies have endured a protracted chase of the midfielder, who was on loan at St James' Park last season.
But the Chronicle now understands there has been a breakthrough in negotiations though at this stage, the 21-year-old remains an Arsenal player as Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta explained today.
Arteta said : "The situation is that he is our player and we hold some conversations because it’s not only about what we want to do but the player's interest."
However, the Chronicle now understands the club are preparing to unveil the capture of Willock, with there still hope a deal can be over the line before tomorrow at 12pm so he's available to face West Ham on Sunday.
This has led to reaction aplenty from fans, who are determined for Newcastle to get the transfer sorted before the Premier League season starts.
Although there has been some anger because of the delay, many fans still believe Willock's arrival would be the lift that the squad needs going into the new season.
