Newcastle United fans react after Magpies fall to disappointing Leicester defeat

Eddie Howe will have been hoping that a 1-0 victory over Burnley in his side's last game would be the catalyst for a bit of form for Newcastle United but he was left disappointed as Leicester City defeated the Magpies 4-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Newcastle fans have been sharing their reactions on Twitter after a disappointing second half performance as their side had seemed to be in the game before a contentious Youri Tielemans penalty gave Leicester the lead just before half time.

It's safe to say that many fans weren't happy with the penalty decision as it was felt that James Maddison had dived to win the spot-kick.

One fan, @zappcat wrote "Maddison giving Tom Daley a run for his money. Could have been a different game getting to half-time at 0-0."

Another, @capn_badger said "the dodgy dive VAR decision set the tone for the game".

However, whilst fans were upset at that decision, they were dismayed at the response from their team.

"Gifted a badly out of form opponent 4 goals just when we are gaining momentum," said @dkv1996.

Meanwhile, @albertfezziwig felt that this kind of performance would see the club relegated:

"A major rebuild is required and, sadly, it will very possibly begin in the Championship. We have to look to the future with optimism."

Another fan felt that relegation was the most likely outcome, as @chris_elliss9377 wrote, "We deserve to go down. Just pathetic man. I'd prefer to go down, and completely rebuild this disgrace of a "team". Barely any worth a shirt."

Some still cling to the idea that the January transfer window could be the way out of the relegation battle for Howe 's team, with @skwa_jonty writing that "January can't come quick enough."

If January is to be the time that Newcastle bring in the players to save their season, they will need a few better performances and results than they managed today.
