Newcastle United fans pull no punches as they react to last-gasp draw against Watford

Newcastle United fans were quick to register their disappointment online following the Magpies’ frustrating 1-1 draw with Watford.

Eddie Howe’s side led for 39 minutes following Allan Saint-Maximin’s 49th-minute opener but, as has so often been the case this season, Newcastle failed to hold on as the Hornets snatched a late equaliser.

Victory would have lifted the Magpies out of the bottom three, with Watford destined to lose their eighth game in a row until Joao Pedro’s last-gasp strike.

Angry Newcastle fans have vented their spleen on Twitter following the game as their side remains in the relegation zone.

@tfalex1892: Shocking result but we’re so desperate at 1 0. No desire to kill the game. Not sure where it goes from here

@Waughy72: Down. Simple as that, If you’re not beating a Watford team that’s lost their last 6 games, you deserve what you get. Sorry like, there needs to have been improvement in our results since October and there hasn’t been.

@toontasticly: The second worst defence in PL and haggling for recruitments! We deserve everything that’s coming to us #nufc.

Toon fans were quick to blame skipper Jamaal Lascelles due to his failure to challenge Pedro for the equaliser.

@bethnufc3: The captain of #nufc should be someone who’d take a bullet for their team mates. Lascelles lacks the heart and desire we need from our leader. He’s also to blame for a lot of the points we’ve dropped this season. Would you change captain during the season? #nufc

@GianfrancoShola: Lascelles is so pony. He’s not a leader, he can’t defend, he has all the confidence of a goldfish in a shark tank. His first through is to just pump it away every time. #nufc

@nufcsanjay: There's no way João Pedro should be winning that header. Don't think there's much Trippier could've done, but Lascelles absolutely can't be getting out-jumped there. We desperately need two new CBs, at least one in for the Leeds game. #NUFC
