Newcastle United fans offer Joelinton verdict and have Ryan Fraser question after team news

Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to Steve Bruce’s team selection for the Toon’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

Karl Darlow starts in goal for Newcastle, with Javier Manquillo, Federico Fernandes, Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie in the defence.

Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Jeff Hendrick and Miguel Almiron all play behind the strike force of Callum Wilson and Joelinton.

In this fixture last season, Joelinton scored the only goal of the game as Bruce’s side picked up a surprising three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 24-year-old netted twice in midweek for the Magpies, who thrashed League Two side Morecambe 7-0 in the Carabao Cup.

The Brazilian’s inclusion for the game against Spurs has shocked some supporters, but the overall feeling was positive.

Andy Carroll misses out on the starting line-up for the first time in the league this season, making way for Joelinton.

It’s the first time that Wilson and Joelinton have started a game alongside each other, as Bruce aims to find his strongest strike force.

New signing Ryan Fraser didn’t even make the 18-man squad for Sunday afternoon’s match, after Bruce admitted he is still not 100% match-fit in his pre-match press conference.

Since arriving from Bournemouth earlier in the summer, the winger has started just one game for his new side - in a 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup - where he scored the only goal.
