Newcastle United fans name their number one January target

Jarrod Bowen has been named as the number one January target by Newcastle United fans.

The in-form Hull City forward has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs including the Magpies.

The Tigers - who remain in the hunt for a play-off spot in the Championship - are believed to be holding out for more than £20m for the England under-21 international, according to the Telegraph.

Reported progress on a loan deal for former Everton winger Ademola Lookman could suggest United are looking elsewhere to Bowen.

But when we posed the question on our Newcastle United - Chronicle Facebook page to fans on who the ideal January signing would be, there was one clear winner.

One fan wrote: "100% Bowen. Fits our style of play, works really hard, and still fits Mike Ashley's blueprint for resale value."

Another posted: "Definitely Bowen, but then I don't know how we'd fit him, Almiron and ASM into the side."

Another popular pick among United supporters was Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi.

The 26-year-old Belgian international has struggled for game-time at Stamford Bridge, and reports have linked a number of Premier League clubs with a loan move for the former Marseille man.

United's struggles in front of goal have been well documented, and supporters believe a move for the striker dubbed the "Batsman" should be the priority.

One fan commented: "Bats, as he's done it in the Prem."

Other names mentioned by supporters included Lookman, in-form Southampton striker Danny Ings, and Tottenham's holding midfielder Victor Wanyama.
