Newcastle United fans love Jordan Pickford's reaction to Callum Wilson's penalty against Everton

Newcastle United supporters will absolutely love Jordan Pickford's reaction to Callum Wilson scoring his penalty to put the Magpies 1-0 up against Everton.

Steve Bruce's side were awarded a spot-kick after Andre Gomes fouled Wilson in the box, and the 28-year-old striker sent Robin Olsen the wrong way from 12 yards.

Olsen started in goal for the visitors at St. James' Park after Pickford was rested for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The former Sunderland shot-stopper has been in the headlines in recent weeks after his tackle on Virgil van Dijk left the Liverpool centre-back with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

As well as this, Pickford has been the centre of plenty of criticism for his performances and Ancelotti has now taken him out of the spotlight.

The 26-year-old will return against Manchester United next weekend, though, Ancelotti confirmed prior to the match.

The Sky Sports cameras cut to Pickford, who was on the bench, and the England goalkeeper punched the air in anger as Olsen was sent the wrong way by Wilson.

Everton's Premier League debutant, Olsen, was actually very impressive for the visitors and denied Allan Saint-Maximin from close-range in the first-half.

As well as that, the Swedish 'keeper did well to stop a fierce Sean Longstaff strike in the second-half.

Wilson ended up scoring again after some fine work from Ryan Fraser on the left-hand side, and the former Bournemouth forward doubled his and Newcastle's tally on the day and although Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled a goal back, the hosts held on for all three points.

After last weekend's impressive point at Wolves, Bruce's side have now backed that up with a superb victory over the Toffees.

Newcastle's travel all the way down to Southampton next weekend, before a two-week international break.
