Newcastle United fans issue brutal response to links to Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson

Newcastle United are said to be among a string of Premier League clubs weighing up a move for Nottingham Forest's highly-rated Wales international Brennan Johnson.

Everton, West Ham, Spurs and Brentford are also said to be monitoring the Reds attacker who has scored five goals and registered five assists for the Reds this season.

But struggling Newcastle, the richest club in the world after their Saudi-led takeover, are reportedly among the frontrunners as they look to avoid relegation from the top flight.

Newcastle are expected to spend big in the January window to avoid returning to the Championship in what has been a dismal campaign at St James's Park so far.

The Magpies have done business with Forest before having signed Jamal Lascelles, Karl Darlow and Jermaine Jenas among previous deals and they have responded to the latest reports linking them with Johnson.

Here's what they had to say on Twitter.

Barry Blakeley: "The last two Nottingham Forest starlets we signed were Lascelles and Darlow. Happy for Everton or West Ham to have this fella."

Andy Davies: "Don’t know why we’re in the running. He’ll go to Brentford for 10 grand a week less anyway."

Travis Scott: "We usually buy c*ap from Forest!"

Ryan Willson: "Hope he’s better than the last two we got from Forest."

Steven Halford: "Hope Newcastle stay away. Over the years we've plucked some proper "young starlets" in Lascelles, Darlow and Jenas from Forest.

Dazza Lad: "We using Longstaff as bait?"
