Newcastle United fans give their verdict on a potential move for Tottenham defender Danny Rose

Newcastle United fans are overwhelmingly in favour of a move for Tottenham defender Danny Rose.

The Magpies have already secured loan deals for Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro, and are understood to be in the market for a left back.

Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems have both been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign through injury.

Head coach Steve Bruce has confirmed his interest in Rose, who has seemingly fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

The England international has made just three appearances under the new manager, and United are one of several Premier League clubs linked with a move for the 29-year-old.

In a poll on our Newcastle United - Chronicle Facebook page, we posed the question as to whether the Magpies should try to bring Rose to St James' Park.

More than 3,100 supporters cast their vote, and it was a resounding result with 92% of those backing a move for the left back.

One fan wrote: "He'd be the best left back we have had since Bernard if he came."

Another supporter commented: "We need cover, he would do a job try get him on loan till end of season, wouldn’t go for a permanent move."

The majority of comments expressed support for the proposed move, but cast doubt over a deal citing Rose's wage demands and a potential return for Willems in the summer.

A Magpies' supporter posted: "I would love him to come but we won't be able to meet his high wage demands."

Another wrote: "I'm a bit torn over this one. Because as a player I would take him all day long. But I would like to see Willems sign in the summer if possible."
