Newcastle United fans deliver overwhelming verdict on Christian Eriksen amid reported interest

Newcastle United fans would love to see former Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen wearing the black and white stripes this month.

Our online poll asking whether Magpies supporters would sign Eriksen fetched over 3,000 votes - with over three-quarters of voters saying yes.

The 29-year-old is a free agent and has not played football since his traumatic cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

Strict rules in Serie A meant that Inter Milan had to terminate the Dane’s contract after he was fitted with an internal cardiac-defibrillator following the incident.

He would not be subjected to the same regulations in England and the Times have reported interest from Brentford, as well as Newcastle.

The majority of supporters were adamant that he could help Eddie Howe’s side climb out of the Premier league’s relegation zone.

@DavidBrooman2: Absolute no brainer signing a player of Eriksen’s quality surely #NUFC have to be interested

@kevlaa83: Could be the good PR we need as well as a bloody good CM

However, some supporters did not approve, citing his heart attack as an ethical reason to stay clear.

@iannufc: He had a heart attack on the pitch. Imagine the guilt and outcry if it happened again while he was wearing a NUFC strip? Not worth it.

@scarymary7: I have had to vote no. I think he is an excellent player, but I think after him already having a heart attack on the pitch would be a travesty if he had another one while in a black n white top
