Newcastle United fans await announcement after key Kieran Trippier transfer update

Newcastle United supporters are beginning to get excited about the impending arrival of Kieran Tripper.

Rumours of the signing have ramped up in the last week or so and it looks as though it is just a matter of days before it is announced.

According to AS in Spain, as of Tuesday lunchtime, the England right-back will be in Newcastle either this evening or tomorrow morning.

The deal, reported to be in the region of £12m, will be the first under the new owners and under Eddie Howe who will be looking forward to working with a player he knows very well.

The pair spent over a year together at Burnley back in the 2011/12 season before Trippier went on to play Champions League football with Tottenham and then Atletico.

In an ideal world, Newcastle supporters would have wanted this deal, and others, to be wrapped up ahead of the opening of the January transfer window but this signing is a signal of intent from the new owners.

Their next Premier League match isn’t for another week and a half so the 31-year-old will still have plenty of time to train with his new team mates ahead of the visit of Watford to St James’ Park.

Despite the deal being widely reported as all-but done by plenty of reputable sources over the last few days, the news from AS was incredibly well received by the Toon Army.

Here is what some of them had to say.

A number of supporters also remembered just how invested some of the fans become when a player is signing for the club from abroad!
