Newcastle United fan from Saudi Arabia handed elusive Brighton ticket by club sponsors

Newcastle United fan Alwaleed Khaled Aldebasi has been granted his dream away trip to Brighton & Hove Albion - thanks to the club's sponsors Fun 88.

Alwaleed made the 3,200 mile journey from Riyadh to embark on his lifetime ambition to take in the sights of Newcastle and visit St James' Park.

After ticking the box of going to a home game against Chelsea, he wanted to follow up with the trip to the Amex Stadium, only to find that all 3,100 tickets had been snapped up.

However, the class of the Toon Army shone through once again as travelling fans offered him a spare ticket before Fun 88's kind offer to facilitate him was eventually taken up.

Alwaleed earlier told Chronicle Live: "I always said if the takeover goes through I will go to Newcastle and St James' Park.

"But I never expected to be here or so popular here, I have had such a warm North-East welcome from those passionate about the club.

"I've been doing lots of interviews here too."

After learning he did not have a ticket, Fun 88 said: "What a great story. Have a ticket to the game on us."
