Newcastle United facing pricey deal if they revive interest in Ozan Kabak

Newcastle United may have to commit to an £18million deal if they decide to revive their interest in Ozan Kabak.

The Turkey centre-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Liverpool after opting for Merseyside instead of St James' Park after interest from Steve Bruce.

However, Liverpool have snubbed the chance to turn Kabak's loan deal into a permanent arrangement and he is now back on the market.

Kabak's parent club Schalke 04 have been relegated in Germany after finishing rock bottom in the Bundesliga meaning he is unlikely to return.

His representatives are looking for a new club for the defender but his demand for £80,000 per week could put off the Magpies.

A loan deal with an £18million clause at the end of it is being offered to clubs around Europe.

Kabak has three years left on his deal with Schalke 04.

Newcastle have been linked with Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer throughout the summer with sources at Parkhead indicating a £6million deal will be pushed through in June.

United have scouted Ajer for a couple of seasons but Kabak piqued their interest last January before he decided to go to Anfield.

Whether Newcastle would be interested in going back to Kabak and his agent depends on their success with others who moved up the priority list during his unsuccessful loan at Liverpool.
