Newcastle United facing double injury blow for Man City test

Steve Bruce has revealed that Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin have emerged as doubts for the trip to Manchester City.

Both have been in good form since lockdown but United face the daunting task of snaring a result from the Etihad Stadium without two of their most creative players.

Bruce is already set to be without Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff who have hamstring problems.

Bruce said: "We will not know the full extent until 2pm.

"Almiron and Saint-Maximin are struggling.

"Andy Carroll has a strain. We're approaching the fifth and sixth game.

"Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff are our two fittest players but have picked up soft tissue injuries."

Bruce added: "Isaac and Sean have never been a problem.

"It is unfortunate they have soft tissue injuries because of the distances they cover."
