Newcastle United expected to unveil three-pronged board if Premier League approve takeover bid

Newcastle United's would-be board is yet to be decided while the Premier League weighs up a takeover proposal from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Amanda Staveley's PCP Capital Partners and billionaire brothers David and Simon Reuben.

Suggestions on Thursday from Premier League sources were that there should be no issues connected with the takeover despite Amnesty International accusing Saudi Arabia of attempting to use the prestige of Premier League football as a "PR tool" to improve its image.

With Mike Ashey irked before by Press leaks from potential buyers, nobody from the Middle East consortium have made any public comment so far.

There have been suggestions that David Reuben's son Jamie could join the board but the Queens Park Rangers director has kept up his reputation of keeping a relatively low profile so far.

Reuben has been on QPR's board since 2018 and sat on other boards at Metro Bank, Detroit-based real estate and metals business Metro Warehousing and the Arena Racing Company.

Should the takeover go through with no issues from the Premier League's 'owner's and director's test', the formation of a new board would then be able to unfold.

It is expected that Ripon-born financier Staveley could potentially spearhead the club's boardroom presence while 33-year-old Jamie Reuben would sit alongside her in the corridors of power.

With the Public Investment Fund also having an 80% stake in the football club, it remains to be seen who would be the UK representative for the Saudi group.
