Newcastle United evening headlines as court document discovered and Joelinton problem outlined

Here are the Newcastle United evening headlines on Sunday, March 14.

Court document reveals emails relating to takeover

Under the arbitration code, a tribunal must consist of three people - an arbitrator from each party - and those two must appoint a chair.

Michael Beloff was appointed as the chair and that's what Newcastle are disputing in their High Court bid at the moment.

The Magpies were told that Beloff previously advised the Premier League on four separate occasions, so Mike Ashley is doing everything in his power to get the chair changed in order to help the takeover process.

Now, some new emails have emerged from Beloff that could have a big bearing in Newcastle's High Court bid.

Jenas outlines Joelinton problem

Jermaine Jenas thinks Joelinton had his best game in a Newcastle shirt on Friday night against Aston Villa.

However, that's also where the problem lies, with the Magpies striker failing to threaten the opposition goal in the 1-1 draw.

"I think there were times in the game where Newcastle played really well," Jenas told Match of the Day.

"Joelinton potentially had his best game in a Newcastle shirt but it all seemed to fall apart once they got in that 18-yard box.

"Even into the final third, some of the decision making at times...

"Dwight Gayle and Fraser have got to get closer into positions where they can score goals. Joelinton doesn't get his shot off in the first half.

"These are the situations Steve Bruce is talking about.

"We know Joelinton isn't a true centre-forward and these situations explain that. Just shoot there and anything can happen.

"It was a negative pass. In a weird way it was his best game in a Newcastle shirt and he gave Tyrone Mings a torrid time but it doesn't really matter because he doesn't score goals."

Ashley warned over future of Newcastle

Speaking to Football Insider, Price of Football's Kieran Maguire has sent Mike Ashley a warning about the future of Newcastle.

Maguire thinks that if the Magpies are to be relegated to the Championship, then they would immediately become less attractive to a potential buyer.

He said: "My main concern would be that, should the worst happen and Newcastle were relegated, it makes them less attractive to a prospective new owner because they’ll say: 'Well, I’m buying a club which has got these white elephants.'

"That would impact on A) whether prospective buyers want to buy Newcastle and B) the price they will offer Mike Ashley.

"I wouldn’t want to pay more money because if I’ve got a player on £40,000-per-week for the next three years, that’s over £6m on someone who I’m not really going to get much of a return on.

"If the players aren’t happy, you don’t want unhappy players at the club.

"What are you going to do with them?"
