Newcastle United smash transfer record to land striker Alexander Isak

Newcastle United have smashed their transfer record to completed the signing of Aleksander Isak from Real Sociedad.

The Swedish international has joined Newcastle for £58m which surpassed the £40m the Magpies paid for Joelinton back in 2019.

In what was a whirlwind turn of events, the 22-year-old was unveiled today at St James' Park after completing his medical on Thursday afternoon.

“I am delighted to have it done," Isak told NUFC TV.

"It was a big, big decision for me but it is a decision I am really happy with."

Howe reveals Callum Wilson injury damage and updates on fitness of four others

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson will only be missing for a fortnight after suffering a hamstring injury.

The striker went for a scan last week following the Magpies thrilling 3-3 draw against Manchester City, with Eddie Howe not concerned about a long lay off.

Wilson missed the midweek Carabao Cup clash against Tranmere Rovers and will miss Sunday's trip to Wolves.

Howe said today: “We don't believe it to be serious, we are hopeful Callum will only be out for a couple of weeks."

Darren Eales maps out his key priorities as he gets to work as Newcastle United's new CEO

Newcastle United’s new CEO Darren Eales has vowed to grow commercial revenues in order to help improve matters on the pitch.

Newcastle's new ownership have previously outlined their ambitious bid to become a ‘global force’ in the game, since they took over the Tyneside club back in October 2021.

And this summer has seen the Magpies appoint Dan Ashworth and Eales to key backroom positions in an effort to realise that vision.

“On the business side, it’s going to be about growing the commercial revenues,” Eales told NUFC TV.

“We know that in a Financial Fair Play environment, it’s crucial that we grow those revenues because that gives us the ability then to feed that into the team on the pitch."
