Newcastle United duo Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez believe the Magpies are now safe in the Premier League for next season.
A slender 1-0 win at Leicester means that Cardiff City now require a miracle to overhaul the black-and-whites as they moved up to 13th place with four games to play.
Perez netted the winner after Ritchie’s cross in the first half, and the Scotland winger said afterwards: “It’s massive, the manager said a few weeks ago that 38 points hopefully (will keep us up) but we have to keep going.

“That will lift us as well because we’ve not performed in the last two games really.
“That was a great performance, hopefully we can build on that.”
And Perez echoed his sentiments by saying: “38 points should be enough to stay in the Premier League. It means a lot.
“The team has worked really hard this season so credit to the team and the fans, who are always supporting. I think we can say we are a Premier League team next season.”
