Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar insists he was not spat on by Leeds star Rodrigo

Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar is not set to take action on Leeds United's Rodrigo after an ugly confrontation towards the end of the Magpies' 2-1 defeat at St James' Park.

Social media videos quickly emerged of Rodrigo and Schar clashing in the closing stages with some speculating the Swiss international was spat on.

But Chronicle Live has learned that Schar did not feel Rodrigo spat on him and he won't be taking the situation any further.

It has been confirmed this morning that United have made no such accusation and drawn a line under the incident with referee Anthony Taylor dealing with the situation at the time.

After the game Steve Bruce was asked about the moment and simply said: "I didn't see that, I can't comment on it. I haven't seen that at all."

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa also issued a no comment status on the matter after the game.
