Newcastle United dealt new injury blow for Manchester United test

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has revealed he will be without Sean Longstaff this weekend.

The Magpies midfielder has not trained this week and has been resting after picking up an illness.

However, Longstaff is expected to shake off the issue and could be back in contention for Wolves next weekend.

Bruce told the Chronicle: "Sean is ill. He has a really bad bout of tonsillitis.

"He's not well at all so he won't be involved this weekend."

Longstaff was one of the stars of the show against Man United last season when his brother Matty grabbed the winner.

But both brothers are likely to miss this year's fixture as the game comes too early for Matty.

The player has just recovered from a thigh injury and is set to make his comeback against Fulham in the reserves on Monday.
