Newcastle United could sign Germany international Matthias Ginter for as little as £4million, according to the latest reports.
According to Calciomercato, Borussia Monchengladbach are looking to cash in on the 27-year-old before he leaves on a free transfer this summer.
The centre-back is yet to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga club and was dropped to the bench for Borussia's 2-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
Eddie Howe's side are on the hunt for another centre-half to improve one of the worst defences in the Premier League.

Ginter has previously started 16 of their 18 Bundesliga fixtures this season and has also drawn attention from Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp is believed to be an admirer of the central defender and Inter Milan are also keen on a transfer.
However, the £4million asking price is supposedly pricing the Serie A side out of a move with San Siro chiefs only willing to offer £2.5million.
Former Germany boss Joachim Low believes the Monchegladbach central defender is "undervalued by the public."
He previously told Bundesliga.com: "“I have the feeling that he’s undervalued by the public.
“When he’s played with us, he’s always done his job well.”
“As a coach, you know what to expect from him,” Low added. “He’s dependable and he’s able to do what we want him to do, which is to help build the play up from the back.”
