Newcastle United could face FOUR games in just nine days in March after fixture rejig

Newcastle United face a gruelling schedule next month after the Premier League confirmed two of the club's postponed fixtures from December.

Having watched on as Southampton and Everton were called off in the space of a few days over the festive period, the Magpies have had their heavy programme for March handed to them by Premier League chiefs.

The game against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium now has a new date of Thursday, 10th March with a 7.30pm with the clash at Everton taking place a week later on the 17th March with a 7.45pm start.

The alterations to the fixture list mean that Newcastle must now place FOUR games in the space of just nine days.

Indeed, United already face Chelsea away on March 13th at 2pm at Stamford Bridge and then place Crystal Palace at home on March 19th at St James' Park for a 3pm kick off.

It means fans face two long trips south in the space of three days at St Mary's and Stamford Bridge.

However, the fixture list for Eddie Howe's side could be eased slightly if Palace beat Stoke City on FA Cup fifth round day.

That would leave United without a game on March 19th as the Eagles would be on cup duty for quarter-final weekend.
