Newcastle United 'contact Porto' about €20million rated striker

Newcastle United's search for a striker continues with the Magpies linked with FC Porto's Moussa Marega today in Portugal.

Morning headlines in daily football publication Bola claim that Newcastle have offered €15million for the 29-year-old Mali international with Portugal's champions holding out for €20million, despite a €30million clause in his contract.

Marega netted 13 goals in 30 appearances for Porto last season.

Newcastle have also been linked with Liverpool's Rhian Brewster on loan, but Jurgen Klopp has played down talk of an immediate exit.

With the transfer window open until October, Klopp said: "In the moment, he is [part of the plan now].

"We will have to see what will happen in the next few weeks or so," he said in a press conference.

"We want to use Rhian and want to help Rhian as well, so that's why we have to make decisions, but not now.

"He looks really promising.

"Goals are the most important thing in the football world and obviously he can score goals.

"He's still a young boy. Especially in his position, as a number nine, up front, experience helps a lot."
