Newcastle United confirm Neil Redfearn's exit from the club

Newcastle United chiefs say that Neil Redfearn “stepped down” from his role as Under-23 boss.

The Yorkshireman’s exit comes just six months after Newcastle unveiled their new look coaching line-up at the Academy.

However, the club’s reserve team will be guided by somebody else for their next game at Port Vale in the EFL Trophy next week.

A United statement read: “Newcastle United can confirm that Neil Redfearn has stepped down from his role as head coach of the club’s Under-23 side.

“He officially took up the position in June 2019 and also assisted Ben Dawson during the first team’s pre-season trip to China.

“The club would like to thank Neil for his service and wishes him well for the future.”

Redfearn is believed to have had a disagreement with Academy coach Liam Bramley and was absent during the 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa.
