Newcastle United confirm full pre-season schedule with two more friendlies announced

Newcastle United will face a friendly clash in Edinburgh against Hibernian following their pre-season tour to China.

Scottish Premiership side Hibernian have been added as summer opponents in a clash at Easter Road in late July.

Hibs finished fifth in the Scottish top-flight last season.

The Magpies will also take on Saint-Etienne at St James' Park as their official home curtain raiser against the European-bound Ligue 1 outfit.

A United statement read: "With their participation in this summer’s Premier League Asia Trophy having already been confirmed, the announcement means that United’s pre-season schedule is now complete."

United play Wolverhampton Wanderers in China and will then play either West Ham United or Manchester City in their second game.

Here's how United's summer friendly list looks:


Wednesday, 17 July  – Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League Asia Trophy, Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre, 6pm kick-off [local time])
Saturday, 20 July  – Manchester City/West Ham United (Premier League Asia Trophy, Hongkou Stadium, kick-off tbc)
Tuesday, 30 July  – Hibernian (Easter Road, 7.45pm kick-off)
Saturday, 3 August  – AS Saint-Étienne (St. James’ Park, 3pm kick-off)
