Newcastle United complete Chris Wood transfer as second signing of January window confirmed

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Chris Wood from Burnley.

The New Zealand international has completed his medical and agreed personal terms on a two and a half year move, with the deal going through with no late hitches to take United's tally of new signings to two before the midway point of the transfer window.

A fee of £25million has been agreed between Newcastle and the Clarets.

Wood needed to be registered before noon on Friday to be eligible to face the Hornets in the big clash at St James' Park, but that is now not an issue.

In five seasons with Burnley, Wood has scored 49 goals in 144 appearances and he has 27 goals in 60 games for New Zealand at international level.

He is the only player from New Zealand to score a hat-trick in the Premier League after a treble against Wolves in 2021 during a 4-0 win.
