Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan supports women's golf tournament in Jeddah

Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has made his first public appearance since taking in the Magpies' 3-2 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

After being consulted on United's managerial chase which ended up with Eddie Howe as boss, Al-Rumayyan was seen taking a swing at the Aramco Team Series in Jeddah.

The Toon supremo was in the team of Georgia Hall with the tournament releasing a statement which read: "The 25-year-old, her captain’s draft pick Maha Haddioui of Morocco, Diksha Dagar of India, and H.E Yasir Al-Rumayyan, chairman of Aramco and Golf Saudi, the fourball’s amateur player – carded an opening round of -19 to lead the $1million tournament, which follows last week’s Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, King Abdullah Economic City."

The Newcastle chairman said when he arrived as boss that he would bring ambition back to the Magpies.

He said last month: "Most importantly, you can expect ambition.

"Like you, we want to create a consistently successful team.

"We’re here to build long-term success for the club."
