Newcastle United Chairman’s Suite chef and former NE Chef of The Year to serve dishes at The Caper

The newly appointed Chairman's Suite chef at Newcastle United will serve up dishes at The Caper this year. Guests will be treated to an evening of music, food and comedy at the mini-festival on Friday, June 16.

The pop-up event was previously held at the Grainger Market in Newcastle but will now take place at the Baltic on Gateshead's Quayside.

David Kennedy, who has been appointed by NUFC, will join three talented chefs at the celebration of North East culture. David, who is well-known for his for his trademark, full flavour traditional British dishes, will be on hand to offer super decadent sweet treats.

Marc Pierre White-trained New Zealander and former NE Chef of The Year John Connell will join David at the popular pop-up event. He will deliver Asian fusion dishes such as Maguro Yukke with fresh tuna as well marinated grilled beef Bulgogi.

Also on the line up are Yasmin, of Layla’s Kitchen, Jesmond, and Billy Thomas from Greekster.

Yasmin will craft Middle Eastern vegan and vegetarian dishes complete with stuffed bell peppers and tabbouleh salad while Billy will serve up pork skewers and homemade tzatziki.

Organiser Sean Bullick said: "Our four amazing chefs will be using Baltic’s newly refurbished professional kitchens to produce some of the best and most innovative food the North East has to offer, available across five floors.

"And, if you’ve got any room after all that, don’t forget to get your share of music, dancing, comedy, cinema, video games, live art, and incredible designer and vintage stalls! What's not to love?"

SISI (The Caper)

In addition to the four chefs, there will programmes of entertainment showcasing a whole range of local talent and cocktails served at The Caper's newly formed "Chill Out Zone".

Sisi, Cortney Dixon and her band and Moon Wax will all play music in the Front Room bar overlooking the Tyne.

In the Baltic Kitchen, there will be comedy from Catherine Young and Mike Milligan, Sasha Lo and Howka Charvaz.

There will also be music provided by DJ BeauJack, salsa dance lessons with Brazilian Andrew Viana and live art from Alfie Joey.

Cortney Dixon said: "I'm so looking forward to my first Caper! You can expect upbeat, fun tunes with guitar riffs and catchy melodies so you can sing along in no time.

"It’s great that The Caper is bringing together lots of different genres of local music as well as championing local food and comedy."

Final tickets for the event can be purchased for £15.00 plus booking fee.
