Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales set to meet supporter groups in fan engagement pledge

Newcastle United's new incoming CEO Darren Eales has made a pledge to talk to supporters on any major developments at St James' Park.

Toon fans watched on in 2013 as Mike Ashley changed the stadium name without consultation of fan groups while Alan Shearer's name was also wrenched off the main bar area at the ground.

But Eales is set to meet fan groups and organisations to get ideas and discuss possibilities at Newcastle moving forward.

The former Atlanta United supremo said: "It’s important that, anything we do, we bring our supporters along with us.

"Fan engagement is going to be front and centre.

"We want to be a top-six club consistently competing for trophies so it’s about how we get there but we also want to be sustainable.”

United held a round table event at St James' Park with local and national media on Wednesday.

Since the club was taken over Newcastle owners have reopened the lines of communication after some barren years of near silence from the corridors of power.
