Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles on knife crime, and believing there's life in space

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles would like to 'stop' knife crime.

The 25-year-old took part in the usually light-hearted ' Toon Tombola' in the club's match-day programme. But his answers took a more serious tone when asked what rule he would like everyone to follow.

"To stop knife crime," Lascelles replied.

"There's loads of other things I could say, but I hate knife crime."

The UK is said to be in the middle of a knife crime epidemic, with 135 deaths recorded by April 3 in London for this year alone.

Lascelles also spoke about his belief that there are 'different creatures' in the sea that are yet to be discovered and revealed that he turns to computer game 'Fortnite' when he's had a bad day.

Q: Who would play you in a film about yourself?

A: What's his face, have you seen the movie Four Brothers? The guy out of that, Mark Wahlberg. I think he's sick. He's a proper good actor, he's one of my favourites - him and Liam Neeson.

Q: You're hosting dinner for one alive, one dead, and one fictional person - who do you invite?

A: Michael Jordan, my grandma - my dad's mum, and I can't think of a fictional one, so I'll stay Kevin Hart.

Q: What do you do when a flying insect comes into your house - swat it, or try to shoo it out of a window?

A: Shoo it out of the window - I don't like killing animals or insects.

Q: If you had to be stuck in a TV show for a week, which show would it be?

A: Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones will be back soon (Sky)

Q: What do you ask for when you go to your barber?

A: A skin fade and a shape up. I go once a week, normally on a friday.

Q: Do you believe you are in control of your destiny or is your fate written in the stars

A: I think you're in control. I believe everything happens for a reason sort of thing.

Q: Do you believe there's life in space?

A: Yeah, I think there's loads more that we don't about - definitely. And I think there's loads more in the sea - just different creatures that we've not discovered.

Q: If you could make one rule that everyone else had to follow, what would it be?

A: To stop knife crime. There's loads of other things I could say, but I hate knife crime.

Q: Which teammate has the firmest handshake?

A: Probably Martin [Dubravka].
