Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce reveals Freddie Woodman plans and what they mean for Swansea City

Steve Bruce admits he's keen for Freddie Woodman to secure another loan move away from Newcastle United next season.

The goalkeeper has been a mainstay under Steve Cooper during his season-long loan at Swansea City so far, with the Englishman keeping 12 clean sheets in his 40 Championship appearances to date.

Woodman himself has spoken about his desire to remain at Swansea beyond the 2019/20 campaign.

He has one year left to run on his existing deal with the Magpies, meaning the 23-year-old would need to be given a new contract should they wish to send him out on loan again to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

And Newcastle boss Bruce has revealed he will hold talks with Woodman following the conclusion of the current season while admitting he hopes the youngster will have another temporary spell away from the North East of England.

"Freddie is in that situation where he wants to play," Bruce told the Chronicle.

"So we will review the whole situation. I understand that Freddie wants to play.

"We are very fortunate that we have two excellent goalkeepers in [Martin] Dubravka and Karl Darlow who are terrific.

"Freddie has done well at Swansea. An ideal solution that we let Freddie go out again [on loan] depending on contracts and things like this.

"That is one situation that we're looking at."
