Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce picks up first major award as boss - but now asks players for instant replay

Steve Bruce picked up the LMA's award for performance of the week - but the insisted the 3-2 victory at West Ham must now be built on.

Bruce was awarded with a bottle of champagne, however, was more focused on AFC Bournemouth than taking time to celebrate the performance.

Ahead of the clash with the Cherries on Tyneside, Bruce told the Chronicle: "It was a good performance but we have to now carry that forward.

"I can't stress how huge back to back victories in the Premier League are.

"And we are going to have to be at our best because Bournemouth are a very good side.

"They are sitting seventh in the Premier League and re four points ahead of us.

"Let's hope we can go  into the international break with a victory.

"It would then be a half decent start after things have been difficult.

"It's one thing we can try to get to."

The award, which is determined by the League Manager’s Association panel comprising LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson, former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton, Barry Fry, Joe Royle, Sir Alex Ferguson and Dave Bassett.
