Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce issues reaction after Wor Flags protest outside St James' Park

Steve Bruce says he is "disappointed" to hear that Newcastle United fans protested about Newcastle United's awful run in the Premier League outside St James' Park last night.

The Magpies were beaten 2-0 at Aston Villa and managed just one shot on target with tough games against Leeds and Everton quickly to follow.

Supporters group Wor Flags - who quit their excellent displays on the back of Rafa Benitez's exit in 2019 - were back with a banner aimed at Toon owner Mike Ashley which read: "Act Late. Seal Your Fate."

When informed of the protest, Bruce replied and said: "Well, I'm disappointed to hear that."

The Magpies slipped to 16th place in the Premier League after the loss to Villa and Bruce tried to sum up the defeat, commenting: "We have been on a difficult run but we aren't alone. It is our turn and how we handle it and how we turn it around.

"We have been stuck on 19 points for a while now, so the quicker we get the win, the better.

"We need to win a couple of games and that's what we are trying to do.

"I know this group of players are capable but we have had a tough time of it with illness and injuries and if we can stay fit and healthy I am confident we will be okay."
