Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce hands Matty and Sean Longstaff starts at Manchester United

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce handed BOTH Longstaff brothers a start at Manchester United on Boxing Day.

The duo - who had starred in the 1-0 win against the Red Devils at St James' Park - were back from the start along with Dwight Gayle.

Gayle's appearance in the opening line-up was his first since May 2018 when he appeared in a 3-0 win over Chelsea.

In a further boost for Bruce's side, Jetro Willems returned from a knock to replace Paul Dummett.

Another noteworthy spot on the team sheet was that Federico Fernandez captained the Magpies as they looked for their first win at Man United since 2013.

Bruce opted to rest Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey after the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace while Isaac Hayden was relegated to the bench.

Man United: De Gea, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Pereira, Fred, McTominay, Martial, Rashford, Greenwood.

Subs: Romero, Jones, Pogba, Mata, Lingard, Young, James.

Newcastle: Dubravka, Manquillo, Willems, Fernandez, Schar, Lejeune, S. Longstaff, M. Longstaff, Almiron, Gayle, Joelinton.

Subs: Darlow, Carroll, Shelvey, Hayden, Krafth, Yedlin, Atsu.
