Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce confirms one incoming signing and arrival of 17-year-old on trial

Steve Bruce has revealed he expects to get at least one piece of incoming business done before the transfer deadline arrives tomorrow.

The Magpies have a medical in place for Peruvian youngster Rodrigo Vilca with Bruce ready to welcome him to Tyneside and roll out a development plan.

Bruce stated he expects no major cash signings on deadline day but says that loans are still possible depending on outgoing deals with Christian Atsu, wanted by Watford, Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar all in the exit zone.

Bruce said: "The young Peruvian player, we hope, will be arriving.

"He'll be for the Academy to start with, that's for sure, so he's not really going to be involved with the first team."

Bruce also said that United had a 17-year-old on trial last week but did not name the player.

He added: “We had a young 17-year-old with us this week and he's done very, very well, so yes he'll be one for the Academy."

When pressed on further business, Bruce said: "I can't see me in the market unless, as I said, something really, really special comes along on loan. But I don't think at this particular moment, that we'll be doing any more business."
