Newcastle United have no plans to move from St James' Park and build a new super stadium - according to the Magpies' new owners.
Instead, the Middle East-backed black and whites are aiming to expand the capacity of St James' Park and want to explore the possibility of taking the current ground beyond it's near 53,000 seats.
Speaking to the Athletic in the first post-takeover interview, Mehrdad Ghodoussi said: "We will definitely look at expanding it.
"We're working with the city and council to see what we can do.
"There are a lot of things that need to happen first, but that’s the way forward.
"If we can get it to 60 or 65,000 thousand, amazing, and we will look at every possibility.
"But are we going to build a new stadium? No. It would be like tearing your soul out."
Staveley also spoke about keeping Eddie Howe staying in the dugout for the long-term.
Mr Ghodoussi added: "We know Eddie has the ability to keep us up.
"And it was always with a view to a long-term future.
"We hope and think that Eddie will be with us for a very long time.
"We had to get the building blocks in place before we hit the transfer window."
