Newcastle United await Premier League permission to draft players into their squad

Newcastle United are set to learn whether they can extend their squad at the end of the week.

The possibility of expanding the roster or using players who have been recalled from loan deals will be determined this week with a share holder's meeting set to take place on Thursday.

The prospect of increasing squads is next on the Premier League's agenda.

As reported by the Chronicle last week both Jack Colback and Jamie Sterry are not in consideration for the remainder of the season and are unlikely to be even if the Premier League give the green light to increase the squad.

However, Welsh international defender Paul Dummett is back in training after returning from an injury picked up in January.

Dummett thought his season was over but has made a full recovery and was used in the practice match behind closed doors between the squad on Saturday morning.

Henri Saivet is another who could be added to the squad after failing to get a squad number for the original season.

But Rolando Aarons, back from a loan spell at Motherwell, has already played for Wycombe and the Fir Park outfit meaning he would be unable to represent a third club in the same campaign.
