Newcastle United auction off match-worn shirts to raise funds for The Royal British Legion

Newcastle United's 2-1 victory over Everton gave the Magpies their best start to a Premier League season since 2011 - and the benefits of that victory aren't just to the side's standing in the Premier League.

Prior to kick-off, both sides held a minute's silence to mark Armistice Day on November 11th with all players wearing shirts bearing a poppy as a mark of respect, and you can now bid on one to help raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

All 14 match-worn shirts are up for grabs - with £6,600 in total currently in the pot to be passed onto the charity.

Currently, Allan Saint-Maximin' s shirt has attracted the highest bid - £788, while Callum Wilson's jersey - in which he scored a double - is totalling £704, followed by Jamaal Lascelles' shirt at £650.

Jeff Hendrick's shirt is at the lowest bid - currently £323, and interestingly Andy Carroll, who only played nine minutes of football having come off the bench in the 87th minute, stands at £519.

The winner of each auction will see their shirt disinfected and then signed by the player who wore the shirt.

The money goes to the Royal British Legion which provides vital support to veterans and their families.
