Newcastle United announced their highest attendance of the season in the festive holiday clash against Everton.
A crowd of 52,211 contained around 10,000 new half-season ticket holders after the club handed out freebies earlier this month in a bid to boost ailing crowds and boost the atmosphere.
United’s previous highest attendance this term had been the 51,198 turnout for the 1-0 victory against Manchester United back in October.
The crowd was also up by a significant number from the 45,453 that watched the Crystal Palace game before Christmas.
The club had to reprint tickets for this clash as some fans had not received their new season tickets in time for the game.
